This hour long duet took the span of six years for me to create. The Hardest Word has become one of the most personal works that I have created. It is an introspective work, a non-linear and abstract piece that investigates the relationship between two people; may they be interpreted as siblings or lovers in an old relationship and recounting their lives together, or as a new individuals revealing a chain of events in their couple hood. The Hardest Word is visually saturated with cultural references from the 1980's and today, and also highlights my romantic persona. This physical vernacular of this piece creates a cathartic journey for the audience; utilizing my language that spawns from pointe/ballet equally with post-modern movement.
