Candlelight Concert : Music of Remembrance
The St. John's Choirs with Orchestra present Fauré's beloved Requiem and other works by candlelight as part of the music series Sacred Music at the Red Door, in the time of remembrance of All Saints Day and Veterans' Day. Also included are Fauré's Cantique de Jean Racine, Bach's Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, Bainton's And I Saw a New Heaven, and Grayston Ives's There is a land of pure delight. Set in the English Gothic architecture and gracious acoustic of St. John's Episcopal Church, built in 1909 to plans by the architectural firm Cram & Goodhue. A Reception follows. Ticket discount of 50% when presenting the Greater Hartford Arts Council's Let'sGoArts card (www.letsgoarts.org); purchase ticket at half price online and pay the difference at the door if you are without the card (don't leave home without it...)
