Suzanne Snizek: Suppressed music for flute
Flutist and University of Victoria Assistant Professor of Music, Suzanne Snizek, will present a concert featuring diverse solo flute works, written by composers (Flothuis, Gál, Rozsa) who had been suppressed by the Third Reich for ideological reasons. Also included in this concert is a newly commissioned solo by Canadian composer Farshid Samandari. Samandari's new solo work is inspired by poetry by Primo Levi as well as Samandaris life experiences. These works will be the focus of Snizek's artist residency at the Banff Centre (AB) during September and October 2016.
