From Coraline to Kubo: A History of LAIKA's Films

What happens behind the scenes of a major stop-motion production? Mark Shapiro from LAIKA, the Oregon-based animation studio, will take us through the process is this dynamic presentation on the history and the process of LAIKA's magical films.
Here at Cerimon House were mad for puppets! And we are delighted to introduce you to Mark Shapiro for a one-of-a-kind presentation on how LAIKA builds entire worlds by hand, piece by piece, and creates life in 24 frames per second.
LAIKA has an artful and noteworthy repertoire including their 3 Oscar-nominated feature films: Coraline, ParaNorman, and The Boxtrolls. Founded in 2005, the studios fourth feature Kubo and the Two Strings premiered in theaters worldwide this Summer.
Mark's presentation will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
Thursday, December 15th @ 7:30PM (doors at 7pm) at Cerimon House. Plenty of street parking. :)
All proceeds benefit Cerimon House, a nonprofit humanities and cultural arts organization, located in the heart of the Alberta Arts District.
