Blue Jay Brings Back the Moon
Blue Jay, Northwest Coast Salish tribes' trickster character, who through his antics brings us laughter, pranks, and yes, even powerful lessons. In this traditional story from the Snoqualmie people, the cunning Blue Jay ventures out to bring Snoqual the Moon -- the Transformer, who has been kidnapped by the Dog Salmon people and taken to the Sky world, back to Earth to help prepare for the humans to arrive.
Join Na'ah Illahee Fund, a Seattle-based Native nonprofit organization as they fill the day with Northwest Native American talent and community spirit! Noon to 6:00 PM Art Show and Holiday Marketplace with free admission, offering refreshments of seafood chowder and beverages. Artists demonstrations, and family fun!
The festive evening program, 6:00 - 8:30 PM: * A delicious organic dinner featuring traditional indigenous foods of the Americas * Na'ah Illahee will be awarding their third annual Spirit of Indigenous Leadership award to Yakama/Cowlitz young leader Mariana Harvey * Design projects presentations from the Yahowt Native Women's Permaculture Cohort 2016 * Join the young middle and high school women of the Native Girls Code club as they share their accomplishments * Honoring and presenting the 2016 grant awards from the Ahdanehi Women's Giving Circle.
