Poulenc Trio
Since its founding in 2003, the Poulenc trio has performed in more than 40 U.S. states and around the world. The Trio is committed to promoting music that reflects its members' African, Pan-American, Eastern European and Jewish roots. PROGRAM:

ROSSINI FANTASY CONCERTANTE "SEMIRAMIDE" The Semiramide fantasy is fun and virtuosic, based on Rossini's final and most popular Italian opera.
JAKOV JAKOULOV - YIDDISH LEXICON (2010) (written for the Poulenc Trio) In the spirit of "The Joy of Yiddish" by Leo Rosten, Jewish/Roma composer Jakov Jakoulov explores the meanings of ten Yiddish words that have earned familiar places in the English lexicon. With movements like "Shiksa," that chronicles the courtship of a young woman, and "Meshugenah," a slightly-crazy waltz, this semi-programatic work includes text for the audience to read while listening.
NEW HARLEM RENAISSANCE PIECE (TBA)
PAQUITO D'RIVERA AFRO-CUBAN SONGS Afro, Danzon, Preludio y Merengue D'Rivera is a well known jazz master of the clarinet and his pieces are being heard in chamber music series around the world. The Afro-Cuban Songs are three cuban dance-inspired pieces that will have the audience's feet tapping.
