Nonprofit Law Basics
Are you thinking about starting a nonprofit or work for a nonprofit organization? This training is for anyone who wants to know the legal basics about starting a nonprofit and running a nonprofit. We will cover Washington State law requirements for forming and maintaining a nonprofit corporation, including fiduciary duties of board members, yearly filings, explanation of organizing documents (bylaws and articles of incorporation). We will also go through the IRS Form 1023EZ application for 501c3 tax-exempt status step-by-step, explaining how to apply for and obtain 501c3 tax-exempt status using the new Form 1023EZ form. This is critical course for any community group who is thinking about creating a nonprofit.
We are also offering free 30 minute one-on-one consultations with nonprofit attorneys at our Nonprofit Legal Clinic for training participants. If you would like to meet with one of our nonprofit attorneys to ask your nonprofit legal questions, please email us to make an appointment at contact@wayfindlegal.org. The Nonprofit Law Clinic will be held from 4:00 pm - 6:00pm, immediately before the training.
Dinner will be served at 5:30 pm and the training will run from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
