Calling all language lovers!
Francophone theater company Théâtre du Rêve invites you to join us as we look at the many facets of translation through an artistic and explorative lens. We have many questions: Do we think differently in different languages? What is lost and what is gained when a work of art is translated? How is translating artistic work different from translating a legal document? Medical records? The nutritional information on a box of cereal? How does a professional translator bring the tone, style, and soul of a work of literature to a new language?
We'd love to hear some of your own questions. If you've ever read a book in two languages and been fascinated by the differences, or remarked over something being "lost in translation," we want to hear your thoughts!
Help us get to the heart of translation!
Join us Saturday, February 4th 2017 at the Alliance Française from 2:30-5:30 pm to see scenes from The Little Prince in English, French, Spanish, German and American Sign Language*, and participate in an informal panel discussion led by translators of all five languages in conjunction with our February 1-12, 2017 production of Le Petit Prince at 7 Stages Back Stage Theater.
