Now in its 4th year, this popular monthly (every 2nd Monday of the month) comedy show features the best of Bay Area comedians and beyond. The September 10th El Rio show features Diane Amos (The Pine Sol Lady), Malcolm Grissom (Laughter Across America Competition winner), Jill Bourque (How We First Met), Bob McIntyre (30 year restaurant veteran), and hostess, Lisa Geduldig.
Diane Amos is a San Francisco-based actress and comedian who had a unique upbringing: she was raised in a household with lesbian mothers, one African-American and one Jewish. For the past 17 years, Diane has been The Pine Sol Lady in their national commercials. She has appeared in numerous films including Nine Months, Copycat, Angels in the Outfield, EDTV, and Twisted with Samuel Jackson and Ashley Judd. Diane was a semi-finalist in Star Search; has been on A& E's Evening at The Improv, Lifetime's Girls' Night Out and Comedy Central's Women Aloud. In addition, Diane has been a winner on the game shows: Wheel of Fortune, $25,000 Pyramid, and Super Password. She is the mother of two and wife of one.
Malcolm Grissom is an actor, comedian, public speaker, and radio personality. He started with The Hilo Community Players on The Big Island of Hawaii and since then has performed in musical theater and ensemble plays. His stand up credits range from winning the Laughter Across America Competition to performing at the Las Vegas Comedy Festival to performing on Comedy Time TV. He has performed at numerous comedy clubs, theaters, and colleges and co-hosts a weekly variety show podcast, "The Verve Show," which celebrates a variety of entertainment. The show features comedy and spoken word performances, music and interviews with working performers of all types. Malcolm will be performing his newest solo show, "Can't Aint Nothing But A Four-Letter Word," about his struggles with the deadly virus, Reye's Syndrome, at Monday Night Marsh at The Marsh just down the street in November 2012.
Jill Bourque is a stand up comedian, improvisor, and producer all necessary skills for raising two boys and one husband. She began stand up when her first born was three months old as a way to get out of the house. Jill hosts a popular weekly comedy show "Jillarious" at Tommy T's in San Francisco and has performed over 200 hundred shows at the legendary Purple Onion. She's the creator of the international hit improv show, "How We First Met," which plays San Francisco each year for Valentine's Day. And she is the producer and star of the annual quirky stand up show "Not Your Normal New Year's Eve" at Herbst Theatre. Her credits include SF Sketchfest, Chicago Improv Festival, Los Angeles Improv Festival, and San Francisco Improv Festival.
Bob McIntyre was born a coal miner's daughter in a cabin on a hill in Butcher Hollow. At the age of 13, he got his first job as a waiter at the local BINGO hall where he learned the skills that would carry him through an additional 30 years of various restaurant jobs in a variety of establishments that would never be referred to as "fine dining." Along the way he performed some comedy here and there but not in a lot of other places. His cat weighs 19 pounds, 1/5 of Bob's own weight.
Lisa Geduldig is the creator, producer, & MC of a variety of annual comedy shows: Kung Pao Kosher Comedy: Jewish comedy in Christmas in a Chinese Restaurant (now in its 20th year); The George Bush Going Away Party; Funny Girlz; A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar; The Color of Funny; Cafe con Comedy; Charo... She is also a bilingual (Spanish-English) arts publicist and budding filmmaker.
