Stix Hooper - An Evening of Universal Music
Internationally renowned musician/composer/producer/entrepreneur, Stix Hooper, returns to the stage, acknowledging and sharing his music as well as his myriad of unique experiences gained over his eclectic musical career.

Hooper is one of the world's top drummer/percussionists, and is generally best known to music fans around the globe as the founder of the Crusaders, the seminal instrumental group famed for their amalgamated jazz sound. Hooper is a multiple Grammy nominee and a recipient of many national and international awards and citations. He has also performed, recorded and produced with many of the "who's who" in the music world.

With his ensemble, Viewpoint, Hooper returns to the stage with a performance October 6th, at Zipper Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. Utilizing all the diverse elements that have contributed to his unique style and musicianship, such as his early classical training, his roots in rhythm and blues, and the creativity and improvisation of jazz, Hooper will take to the stage to express himself with his colleagues and will share this experience with his audience showcasing the broad spectrum of Jazz and the universal language of music.

"There are infinite possibilities in the world of music and the creative arts, where the boundaries are clearly self-imposed," Hooper says. "I plan to explore all avenues in the world of music, with this performance and in all things I do, all the way from the original creative process through its development into a form that is both artistically gratifying and accessible to people universally."

According to Hooper, "It is my intent to provide a setting for adventurous improvisation, spontaneity, composition, sonic exploration, harmonic and rhythmic creativity and personal expression." He adds, "Jazz is the familiar term that encompasses most of these elements, but I strive to take it a step beyond."

Along with Hooper on drums and percussion, Viewpoint musicians include Scott Mayo, woodwinds; Del Atkins, bass; and, Eugene Maslov, piano/keyboards. Along with other special international guests, this concert will showcase Hooper's many eclectic and varied talents.
