"AWAKENINGS & BEGINNINGS Dance Festival" - 2017 is now one entire week long of fun master classes, community building, dancer development, performance excitement, art, education, music and of course dance.

DESCRIPTION: This 8:00 pm formal performance presents professional Established Artists & Dance Companies and the two winners in our Emerging Artists Program in the Los Angeles region. This closing Main Stage Performance will present different dance disciplines such as ballet, tap, modern, Butoh, and contemporary forms of dance. Surely to be an amazing presentation.

Description: Wade is an intimate duet for tap dancer Linda Sohl-Ellison and her husband, drummer/vocalist Monti Ellison. Together they perform an interactive tap/live music rendition of the gospel song, Wade in the Water. Wade is from the repertoire of Rhapsody In Taps, a Los Angeles based tap dance and live music touring company under the Artistic Direction of Linda Sohl-Ellison (also RIT choreographer and soloist). The company of 7 tap dancers, 6 musicians and guest artists celebrated its 35th Anniversary Season in Sept. 2016 with an audience of 1,200 at Marsee Auditorium, El Camino College. Rubans Rouges Dance, Noelle Andressen (Paul Antico 6th photo left) "CELLO CONCERTO" Contemporary-Modern/Dance Drama Choreographed by Noelle Andressen Danced by Noelle Andressen, Damien Joseph Diaz, Angel Reid, also featuring: Paige Amicon, Barbara Brownell, Lily Gavrisenko, Nupeir Garrett, Lora Hankanson, Michael John, Anneliese Klages, Sullivan Matheson, Toney Wilson
Description: The player gets played. An analogous tale about men seeing woman as instrumental objects layered with introspective glimpses inside the psyche and the duality that challenges our reactions. Explores the themes of roles in society, feminism, equality and acceptance, narcissism, Utopian vs Dystopian society and our control or lack of within the social ranks; a very timely piece.

Not Man Apart, Jones Welsh "Paradise Lost: Reclaiming Destiny (Excerpt)" 5 minutes Choreographed by and Danced by Jones Welsh & Anne-Marie Talmadge Description: This is a short dance from Paradise Lost: Reclaiming Destiny a full length adaption of John Milton's epic poem, presented by Not Man Apart, directed by Jones (Welsh) Talmadge. This show transforms Miltons elegant text into an epic acrobatic dance on stage and in the air. Jones (Welsh) and Anne-Marie Talmadge combine their choreography and innovative vision into dynamic partnering that incorporates a unique brand of physical storytelling with stunning digital animation effects of J-Walt Adamczyk and video installation artist Hannah Beavers. This show offers up a new future, undetermined by the past, free from the need to dominate, and empowers the audience to fully claim a created destiny and connection to the whole.

PARKING: Ample parking in front of DIAVOLO Space and anywhere in the Brewery Arts parking lot and on the street. Please do read the signage as some store-front and shop owners do not allow for parking in front of their space even after hours. You will be towed at the vehicle owner's expense. Please read the signs carefully. Thank you.
WILL CALL: Once you arrive at DIAVOLO Space, please find the Will Call Desk outside to the left of the stairwell. Once you've checked in you may proceed inside and claim your seat.
BUYING AT THE DOOR: If you're buying tickets at the door, please go to the Desk to the right of the stairwell. CASH ONLY. Be aware, we may already be sold-out. Please purchase your tickets now.
WAIT LIST: Should this event sell-out, please do come and place your name on our wait list. We will do our best to seat you. The wait list will be at the Wait List Desk outside to the right of the stairwell.
