YPIN: Socratic Seminar: Once, there was a tree...
Being outdoors is good for us. It's good for our social, psychological, and physical health. It reduces stress and mortality while improving resilience and countering ADHD, obesity, and even social dysfunction.
But are we good for the outdoors?
In the last 50 years the earth has been more radically changed than by all previous generations of humanity. In a world where only 3% of all water is potable and every minute the equivalent to 19 soccer fields of forest are cut down, what role should and do individuals play? Is the environment your responsibility? Is it anyone's responsibility? Or is all this talk about global warming and eating organic a whole lot of hype?
