Claudia Jacobs Band Live at Last Licks
Part Folk Singer and part Bluesy Mama, Claudia Jacobs is heartbreaking one moment and rambunctiously disarming the next. She is that rare combination of versatile singer, heartfelt poet and spirited entertainer; few performers can own a stage as completely. Described as "Long Island's favorite soul singer" by the Long Island Press; "One of the New York area's finest female singer-songwriters" by WFUV's John Platt and "A Hard-Core Angel" by a fan, her shows are more a happening than a show. What you see, is what you get, and what you get, is a whole lot of something! Her musicianship was honed in Greenwich Village at The Speakeasy on MacDougal Street and Gerdes Folk City. There she embraced the rich folk music tradition she was raised in while adding her unique mixture of genres to create a sound all her own. Her delivery and songs combine folky blues with elements of Jazz, Rock, Country, and Americana. She has performed at festivals and venues around the North East and has opened for such folk favorites as Richie Havens, Judy Collins, Dave Van Ronk, Susan Werner and John Gorka. Her CD Rally On! which was released this year is getting some nice airplay and rave reviews from her fans.
The evening begins with an Open Mic at 7:30, followed by The Claudia Jacobs Band at 8:30
