(de) Color-Es is an event that seeks to cultivate community amongst artists of color of first (and second) generational experience in the United States through the coalition of art. Beyond the artist, (de) Color-Es is designed to revel within el desmadre (messiness) that is being an artist of color new to this country, to spaces, and to each other, thus pushing towards a centering of who we are within environments void of us. This overall vision is produced by Primera Generación Dance Collective and their goal to promulgate a community held between the experience of marginalization that seeks visibility and mobility; sociality that includes where they come from, where they are, and where they are going.
(de) Color-Es literally translates to "of color is", and moves towards the celebration of first generational bodies of color interested in who they are, what our community can be, and what this all is/es.
This evening will feature artists: Pavel Acevedo, Jobel Medina & Joey Navarrete, Nhu Nguyen, Yanina Orellana, Myrrhia Rodriguez, Crystal Sepúlveda, and Primera Generación Dance Collective.
Audiences will be encouraged to navigate the multifaceted space at Human Resources as performances and durational art exhibits take place. The evening is comprised of two iterations, one at 6:00pm and another at 8:30pm.
This event is made possible by Human Resources Los Angeles.
Human Resources was founded in 2010 by a team of creative individuals who seek to broaden engagement with contemporary and conceptual art, with an emphasis on performative and underexposed modes of expression. Human Resources is not-for-profit and seeks to foster widespread public appreciation of the performative arts by encouraging maximum community access. Human Resources also serves as a point of convergence for diverse and disparate art communities to engage in conversation and l idea-sharing promoting the sustainability of non-traditional art forms. We are a volunteer organization.
