CLASSICAL CAFE
Unlike any other composer, Chopin had a compositional gift that can be communicated through a wide range of interpretations. His mastery of voice leading and his unparalleled talent for lyricism decidedly contribute to this expressivity. Chopin, however, was also a gifted pedagogue and through his compositions, pianists have learned how to discover the wonderment of playing the piano. In this Classical Café session, we will talk about how Chopin still continues to teach pianists (and delight audiences) centuries after his pieces were composed. During the Classical Café session, Holly Roadfeldt will perform several works by Chopin including his Fantasie-Impromptu, his Scherzo No. 3 in c-sharp minor, and excerpts from his Op. 28 Preludes. Exciting news! On Friday, November 18, Holly's CD "The Preludes Project", a double-CD of Chopin's Op. 28 Preludes and Kirk O'Riordan's 26 Preludes for Piano, will be released by Parma Recordings.
