CLOWN POWER
Two day intensive workshop
With Deborah Dooby-Doo!
Harnessing the power of play to revolutionise thinking. Pointing out the ridiculous in the every day, the personal and the political. Clown Power leads participants through exercises in improvisation & playfulness, on to performance techniques to shape sketches for an audience.
The two days will culminate in a sketch-sharing evening.
FOR WHO?
A workshop for those who have performed many times before, or are interested to start, all welcome, and all will find they are creatively safe and creatively stretched. These workshops will increase your confidence and allow greater freedom of movement and voice.
WHERE, WHEN?
Saturday Dec 10th: 10am 5pm inc. breaks Sunday Dec 11th: 11am 7pm inc. breaks Events Space, Hamilton House.
THE APPROACH:
The training will cultivate: the imagination and the expressive body. Throughout, participants will be invited to identify their unique responses to the themes and exercises. And develop their own original material for their sketches.
Using specific games and exercises to:
- Enable participants to get in touch with physical relaxation and connection. - Bring the inner imagination into the body/ physical movement. - Re-awaken playfulness and imagination. - Explore how two clowns can create an imaginary world together. - Enquire how the state of clown can comment on the human experience & todays world. - Explore the audience performer relationship. - Explore the joy of colour, costume, and the red nose. - Throughout there will be a mixture of group work, pair work and one-to-one feedback.
