Bent
Bent introduces Max, a gay man living a hedonistic life in 1930's Berlin. Captured by the Gestapo and sent to Dachau, Max pretends to be Jewish to avoid scorn towards homosexuals from guards and prisoners alike. But then he meets Horst--a gay prisoner labeled by his pink triangle--who challenges Max to claim his own identity. Surrounded by cruelty and suffering, Max finds love and redemption in the unlikeliest of places.
Nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play, Bent is a searing look at overlooked victims of the Nazi regime. With the queer community's struggle to find recognition and acceptance continuing to this day, Martin Sherman's timeless themes of love and courage have never been more topical.
