The Ella Effect with Josh Klipp and the Klipptones
Footloose Presents The Ella Effect, the brainchild of local singer and dancer, Josh Klipp. Striving for tone is no easy task when it comes to honoring the legacy of the legendary songstress, Ella Fitzgerald. For one night only with shows at 8pm and 9:30 pm, Josh Klipp and the Klipptones with a crew of local dancers will celebrate in song and dance the musical genius of the inimitable Ella.
The Klipptones are: Steven Bergdall (piano), Jeremy Sherman (upright bass), and Ben Brown (drums). The dancers are Janey Madamba, Freeplay Dance Crew, Sarah Bush Dance Project, Rachel Baker and Mark T. Sebastian.
Josh Klipp is a jazz vocalist, hip hop dancer/choreographer and sound engineer experienced in small theater multi-media (dance, music, video) production. After landing on the Dance Music Billboard Charts in 2008, Josh returned to his first music love, jazz. He and his jazz band, the Klipptones, have performed at the Fillmore Jazz Fest, Jewels in the Square on Union Square, Brick and Mortar Music Hall, Savannah Jazz, the Condor Club, the Bliss Bar among others. Josh is the founder and creative director of Freeplay Dance Crew, a hip hop fusion dance company which performs all over the Bay Area. Photo of Josh Klipp by Lydia Daniller
