The fearless family of freaks and farceurs who comprise
Batty's Hippodrome have celebrated our Grand Opening;
played host to PURE Cirkus and Invizible
Designs; helped to launch the new Rose City Vaudeville
show; and then cleared out the house for a mind-blowing
Steampunk party that carried us from December 31st
well into the New Year.
Now, with 2008 firmly in place, we've reconvened our
tremendous troupe for a full evening of wonderment -
acrobats, jugglers, magicians and more ply their
exotic trades upon the sweat-stained stage of Portland's
premiere circus arts center: THE HIPPODROME, a waystation
along The Endless Road that is the only home our wandering
tribe will ever know.
This Evening's Featured Performers Will Include:
Dr. Reed McClintock
Very possibly the finest close-up magician on Earth,
one of only 35 recipients of the coveted Lou Gallo MVP
Award which denotes that honor, long-time member of
The Magic Castle in Hollywood, and peerless performer
from Las Vegas to The Riviera; Dr. Reed McClintock is
a man for whom the impossible is commonplace and
miracles are a mild diversion.

Kazum
A fresh-faced foursome of fearless fantastics, devoted
to the dalliance of dance and daredevilry.
"Equilibrism" is the classical title of their rare
craft, but it has in more recent times been redubbed
"Acrobalance". No need to worry over what you should
call it, ladies and gentlemen, as your jaw will be
hanging wide from the moment Kazum takes the stage.

Shoehorn
A one-of-a-kind one-man-band, Shoehorn keeps time to
his own raucous saxophone melodies through the
twinkletoed tradition of tap dancing. Mr. Horn will
assemble a full cabaret ensemble to provide a circus
score never heard before, propelled by his own two
feet.

Kyoko Uchida
A sylph of the stratosphere, sailing on silks from the
proscenium skyline; Kyoko Uchida flickered briefly
into Portlands view at the diabolic Dantes Sinferno
before being whisked away to Newfoundland to work with
the Wonderbolt Circus. She returns to us now, gilded
by the spotlight and raring to show off all her newest
and neatest.
Leah James Abel
Leah James Abel has distinguished herself as a touring
member of Imago Theater, Cirque Boom, Kirkos, and the
groundbreaking Bindlestiff Family. Here in Portland,
her greatest impact has been as an instructor in
trapeze; the very art she brings to The Hippodrome.
