Event
American Grain
Time-slots for performances are full but there will be plenty of room to watch as the 9:25 p.m. performance will be projected on the grain mills themselves. So, bike, walk or carpool down to Silo City. Bring what you need to be comfortable and enjoy this unique event. A cash bar will be available.
ABOUT: Working with Jonathan Golove and Matt Sargent, two heralded composers and performers at UB; Dan Shanhan's Torn Space Theater, recognized as the most avant garde of our local theatre companies, Brian Milbrand of the Buffalo State Communications Department who's work as a multi-media artist rivals the Vasulkas; and the cutting-edge Nimbus Dance Company, we are planning an integrative performance that will be created and curated specifically around the powerful and haunting Maine A, the largest grain elevator on the complex known as Silo City.
Performances will run continuously from 6 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. (outside projection will begin at 9:25 p.m.)
The grain mills are some Buffalo's most imposing structures and the greatest concentration of them is at Silo City. Here, in this towering hive of monumental poured concrete structures, is the most dramatic and imposing of all of them: Marine A. Consisting of twenty silos, each 110 feet high.
