THE SYRINGA TREE by Pamela Gien
THE SYRINGA TREE is a moving, poetic drama about apartheid in South Africa, as viewed through the eyes of a young girl. Thirteen principal actors with a 10-member chorus perform this haunting drama, originally performed by a single actor. This play includes an original score, performed live by composer, Robert Yaman, as well as traditional African choral music. The production is beautifully enhanced by designer Tristan Hansen's hand painted set and costumes and Tim Fields' light and sound design. The production runs about two hours with one fifteen minute intermission.
