THE CRITIC by Richard Brinsley Sheridan
One of the first "backstage comedies," The Critic is Sheridan's behind-the-scenes farce about a melodramatic theatrical troupe. When three self-proclaimed critics and playwrights attend the rehearsal of a new Tragic Play, misadventures and antics ensue amidst naïve ingénues, grand dames, and a host of overblown egos. A precursor to our favorite contemporary farces Noises Off, Moon Over Buffalo, or TV's Slings and Arrows.
Directed by Joshua Browns
