Natalia Peterson & David Melbye in Concert (11-10)
Bryant Lake Bowl Cabaret Theater
Minneapolis, MN
Share this event:

Natalia Peterson and David Melbye are returning once again for an evening of music to the Bryant-Lake Bowl Theater!

Known for their harmonious blend of voices, instruments and song, Natalia and David perform music from all different genres, including jazz, songs from the stage, pop, and original compositions.

Natalia and David met while studying music at St. Olaf College.  Both students found that they did not fit into the traditional classical music mold celebrated by St. Olaf, and focused their efforts on infusing pop music, musical theatre and experimental jazz into their repertoires. Fortunately, these musical misfits found each other to showcase their vocal blend, prodigious piano and guitar skills, and diverse taste in music. What makes their performances impressive is how they bring their own individual talent to complement each other as a duo while keeping each musical piece fresh.  A bit of vocal and instrumental improvisation accompanies almost every song even as they stay in sync with one another.

Natalia Peterson is a singer, songwriter, actress, educator and author. She has created two full-length studio albums: Completely Me, a musical for children, and The Spirits Fire, a compilation of original spiritual songs. Recently, Natalia published her first literary work, Im Not The Pastors Wife (Im just married to him). The book is a charming memoir of quirky observations and candid stories that show us what it takes to find the strength to live an authentic life. She is a recent recipient of a McKnight Fellowship and is writing the script and music for a full-length stage production, Borderland, and is working on her third album, Mélange, a collection of original pieces.

David is a singer, guitarist, and board-certified music therapist. He has released two full-length studio albums: Into the Light of Day includes a variety of songs written and recorded over a period of seven years, and My Grandfathers Day: The Music of Gerhard Theodore Alexis, a collection of sacred vocal music and organ compositions. David also contributed to Honoring the Passage: Voices from Hospice Music Therapy, a three CD collection that includes over forty music therapists. Davids music therapy work and original guitar compositions were featured in the Twin Cities Public Television documentary, Living With Hospice.
