SOLD OUT Politics & Prose and Sixth & I Present ZADIE SMITH
From her astonishing WHITE TEETH, included on Time's list of 100 Best English-Language Novels from 1923 to 2005, to her Orange Prize-winning ON BEAUTY and on to her dazzling NW, Zadie Smith has excelled in exuberant group portraits that encompass a wide range of ages, ethnicities, and experiences. Her fifth novel, SWING TIME, focuses on a brief but defining friendship between two women. Growing up, the pair cherish the dream of becoming dancers. But while one has the physical talent, the other transforms movement, rhythm, and music into a rich intellectual framework for understanding her identity as a black woman, an Englishwoman, and as a descendant of a West African tribe.
Zadie Smith will be in conversation with Michele Norris, curator of The Race Card Project and former NPR host.
This event will be followed by a public signing.
