Mead & Honey Tasting, Film, & Discussion - Celebrating National Honey Bee Awareness Day
Join local mead maker, Rob Nicoll, of Fiddler's Reach Mead in a tasting of his all natural honey wine along with a paired sample of each of the raw honeys that go into making each designated mead flavor. After the tasting, Christy Hemingway of Gold Star Honeybees will introduce the film Vanishing of the Bees, about the ongoing shortage of Honey Bees in our world today.
The discussion, following the film, will be led by Christy Hemenway who is an advocate for natural beekeeping practices. She was recently published in The Natural Farmer and has spoken at many New England beekeeping associations and other eco-friendly venues. Ms Hemenway will speak this summer at The American Community Gardening Association in Atlanta, The Northeast Organic Farmers Association in Amherst, and this fall at the Green Festival in Washington DC.
About the Mead:
Honey wine. Distinctive, memorable wines made from honey are available from Fiddler's Reach. My mission is to restore mead's prestige as the drink of heroes and poets (as well as those who just like a good wine with dinner) by introducing wine consumers to more contemporary versions of a widely enjoyed and ancient beverage.
