Tret Fure
Tret Fure is a gifted artist of uncommon energy and range, with a career that spans four decades. By the age of nineteen she was opening for bands such as Yes, Poco, and the J Geils Band. In the early '80s she left mainstream music and became a Women's Music pioneer who has, in recent years, received national awards recognizing her many contributions to the field. After five acoustic releases on her own label, Tomboy girl Records, she has re-established herself in the general folk world, winning the 2004 South Florida Folk Festival Singer/Songwriter Competition in two out of three categories. Known for her skilled guitar work, her warm, earthy vocals and her gift for writing lyrical vignettes, Tret mixes playful up-tempo tunes, disarming piano ballads, and poignant songs full of astute observations. She also markets her own line of clothing, has published a cookbook, and leads a charitable foundation that promotes LGBT rights, services, culture and community development.
