THE HANNAH READ BAND with LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN and PATRICK COMAN
Thursday 8/9 - THE HANNAH READ BAND LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN PATRICK COMAN $8 advance / $8 at the door 8:30 doors / 9:00 show www.patrickcoman.com www.hannahread.com www.lookoutmountainband.com
Patrick Coman & The Lo-Fi Angels play the soundtrack for Saturday night sinning and Sunday morning redemption. Merging the rootsy barroom shuffle of Coman's Oklahoma birthplace with the poetic intensity of traditional New England folk, this unique quintet has steadily become a force for the growing Americana scene in Coman's adopted hometown of Boston and beyond.
Lookout Mountain is a band born of old time music and sad songs. They are based in Boston where they have become a force to be reckoned with in the thriving New England folk music world, performing at such venerated venues as Club Passim and the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival. Consisting of Pennsylvanian old-timey songstress and fiddler Jen Starsinic, Ozark Mountain banjo wunderkind Lukas Pool, and corrupt ex-classical cellist Eric Law, the trio was united by a shared love of Appalachian music and sincerity. And also maybe by a lack of defined boundaries: old songs written a week ago and tear-jerking waltzes snuggled up to raging fiddle-banjo duels ensure that Lookout Mountain is a musical venture to stand up and dance to. Or sit down and cry to. Or both, your choice.
Hannah Read is a young innovative singer, songwriter and fiddler from Edinburgh, Scotland. At the age of 7, gaining inspiration from her older sister, she started taking violin lessons. Shortly after, Hannah and her family moved to the Isle of Eigg, a remote island off the West coast of Scotland. It was here that her passion for Scottish music really flourished, as she became exposed to a way of life that essentially revolved around playing music. No televisions just house ceilidhs. Hannah's music has been complemented by other producers and musicians such as David Kahne (Paul McCartney, Regina Spektor, The Strokes), Matt Pierson (Becca Stevens, Brad Mehldau), Julian Lage, Becca Stevens, Aoife O'Donovan, Darol Anger and many more. Hannah will be recording her debut album in November 2011 at a studio in Manhattan.
Hannah is currently based in Brooklyn NYC, working as a self-employed musician. Regularly performing with her band, along with studio work and several other projects in the US and UK.
