Charles Presents: A Cavalcade of Talk Noises
Sketch comedy duo Charles returns to the Ballard Underground with an all new show. Come see the group The Stranger called "one of the most inpsired and inspiring chunks of comedy produced all year", winners of "Best Writing" and "Best Sketch Comedy" at the 2012 LA Comedy Fest, and the group Chuck's mom said "had too much swearing". With an eclectic and imaginative series of sketches in the tradition of Kids in the Hall and Monty Python, Charles is a genre-bending chimera of comedy goodness. It's a police procedural within an historical epic; it's a murder mystery with inverted light cues; it's a ghost story told by a frustrated ghost. The show is intelligent without sacrificing accessibility, as Charles seamlessly combines highbrow and lowbrow sensibilities into a brand of humor they call unibrow. Charles will be joined by several great opening acts:
- Pump Trolley (of Vancouver BC) 8/18 and 8/19
- Drop the Root Beer and Run (of Seattle) 8/25 and 8/26
- Ubiquitious They (of Seattle) 9/1 and 9/2
Tickets just $10. That's basically cheaper than a movie. Come beat the late summer heat with a refreshing taste of subterranean sketch comedy.
