BRASS CHUCKLES: COMEDY THAT KICKS ASS Premieres at the Playground Theater Friday, August 31
CHICAGO – Producer, comedian and acclaimed multi-disciplinary artist Tamale Sepp announces the premiere of her monthly comedy showcase Brass Chuckles: Comedy That Kicks Ass. The inaugural show launches on August 31, 2012 at 10:00 PM. Location: Playground Theater, 3209 North Halsted Street, Chicago. Cost: $10.00.
Brass Chuckles is a comedy show that invites a compelling cross-section of performers to come out to play. The showcase explores comedy through stand-up, sketch, improv, video, performance art, personal narrative and other creative milieus. The work comes from the artists’ experiences in a range of mediums including drag, burlesque, fire/belly dancing and other areas of expression.
“Brass Chuckles is a comedy show that lovingly showcases fascinating people," explains Tamale Sepp, Brass Chuckles' “Femme-ce” and producer. "These people are invited to share their field of expertise though material that is developed around them and their unique abilities. Each show is as different as the people it features. We do bad ass things with bad ass people.”
To add to the festivities, Playground Theater – home of Brass Chuckles – is BYOB and the ChiTownTamale food truck will be on site at show’s end.
Sepp has a diverse background and has performed improv, sketch and stand-up throughout the country and at local clubs including Zanies, Second City, Annoyance Theater, and IO Chicago. She earned her MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts and Media from Columbia College Chicago. Following graduation, she began working with Brigid Murphy (creator of Milly’s Orchid Show) writing personal narrative.
Brass Chuckles promises laughs from an arresting array of rising Chicago comedians. Come see tomorrow's stars today!
