Eat the City with Hayes Valley Farm
18 Reasons Friday, September 14, 7-9, Ticketed Eat the City with Hayes Valley Farm $25 for 18 Reasons members; $35 for the general public Ticket price includes meal, wine, lecture & tip
Join author Robin Shulman and Hayes Valley Farm for a discussion of food production in urban environments over a three-course meal and wine. Robin's book, Eat The City, might take place in New York City but the history and culture is alive in San Francisco as well.
Here's a bit about the book:
Robin Shulman introduces the people of New York City - both past and present - who grow vegetables, butcher meat, fish local waters, cut and refine sugar, keep bees for honey, brew beer, and make wine, showing that food production has always been part of the life of American cities. In the most heavily built urban environment in the country, she shows an organic city full of intrepid and eccentric people who want to make things grow.
Farmers from Hayes Valley Farm will be here to talk about growing food inside San Francisco and will be supplying organic vegetables for the dinner.
