Jake Holmes & Todd Reynolds at Saratoga Arts
Singer-songwriter Jake Holmes began his recording career in the 60s with two well-regarded albums on EMI's Tower Records, followed by two more on Polydor, one released by Columbia, and a number of self-released recordings. His songs have been recorded by Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone, Harry Belafonte; "Dazed and Confused," off of his second album, is perhaps better known through its adaptation by Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin. In recent years, Jake Holmes' clever and perceptive songwriting has unfolded in more overtly political directions. His musicianship and wit were greatly appreciated by full houses at his 2004 and 2010 appearances at The Arts Center in Saratoga Springs.
Todd Reynolds will join Jake for this special concert, a benefit for Saratoga Arts. Todd Reynolds is a groundbreaking violinist, composer, educator and technologist known as one of the founding fathers of the hybrid-musician movement and one of the most active and versatile proponents of what he calls 'present music'. The violinist of choice for Steve Reich, Meredith Monk, Bang on a Can, and a founder of the string quartet known as Ethel, his compositional and performance style is a hybrid of old and new technology, multi-disciplinary aesthetic and pan-genre composition and improvisation.
