WXPN Welcomes John Gorka with Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams
Up front - please note we have added a new COMBO ticket, our Gorka show (now with Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams opening) with a GA ticket to the Big Noise Fest the next day on the riverfront for only $58 for both days of music! The fest includes Bromberg's Quintet, Dr. John, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Anders Osborne, Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams (with full band, acoustic in Arden) and Front Country.
Doors are at 7 PM. Will call and mobile tickets available also at 7 pm in front of hall.
Back to Arden after five years, John Gorka even used a photo of Gild Hall on a recent LP. His latest release is actually an unreleased LP from 1985, predating the music we know and love.
In addition to his 11 critically acclaimed albums, John has released a collectors edition box featuring a hi-definition DVD and companion CD called The Gypsy Life. Windham Hill also released a collection of Johns greatest hits from the label called Pure John Gorka. In 2010, he also released an album with his friends and Red House label-mates Lucy Kaplansky and Eliza Gilkyson under the name Red Horse. Getting high praise from critics and fans alike, it landed on the Billboard Folk Charts and was one of the most played albums on folk radio.
Many well known artists have recorded and/or performed John Gorka songs, including Mary Chapin Carpenter, Nanci Griffith, Mary Black and Maura OConnell. John has graced the stage of Austin City Limits, Mountain Stage, etown and has appeared on CNN. His new song Where No Monuments Stand is featured in the upcoming documentary Every War Has Two Losers, about activist and Oregon Poet Laureate William Stafford (1914-1993).
Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams
A few years ago Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams opened for Richard Shindell and Lucy Kaplansky and then led the band The Pine Hill Project with them to headline. We're excited to welcome them back to Arden as they are also playing Bromberg's Big Noise Fest on the Riverfront the next day. In fact, we are offering a dual ticket for only $58 for a two day music weekend here in Delaware!
Multi-instrumentalist-vocalist Larry Campbell and singer-guitarist Teresa Williams have rocked many a venue, as both center stage performers and invaluable assets to world class acts. A shortlist of artists whove benefited from their talents, live and in studios, reads like a Whos Who of Music Icons.. Bob Dylan (Larry spent eight years on the Never Ending Tour), Paul Simon, Little Feat, Hot Tuna, Phil Lesh, Emmylou Harris, Sheryl Crow, Mavis Staples, and, for one miraculous seven-year stretch, Levon Helm. Now, with an eponymous debut album, the couple brings it all back home. Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams may have been simmering awhile, but the timing is perfect; the eleven tracks, produced by Campbell, distill everything into a potent, infectious blend of Americana style and timeless soul, offered with a relaxed generosity that can only come from rich experience.
