Lisa Geduldig and El Rio Present... Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Comedy Returns to El Rio! is a popular monthly comedy show (every 3rd Thursday of the month) co-produced by Kung Pao Kosher Comedy's Lisa Geduldig and El Rio. The show, now in its 8th year, takes place at El Rio in San Francisco's Mission District and showcases an eclectic multicultural mix of intelligent, progressive comedians from the Bay Area and beyond.
This month features Dan St Paul, Bridget Schwartz, Natasha Muse, Sid Singh, and Lisa Geduldig (your hostess).
Dan St. Paul grew up in San Francisco's Mission District and moved to LA where he appeared on several episodes of An Evening at the Improv, numerous shows on VH-1, MTV, and Comedy Central. He has opened for Jerry Seinfeld, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, and others. He appeared in the movie "Flubber" with Robin Williams and signed a recording deal with MCA records. His CD, "Natural and Good for You" contains one the most requested comedy pieces on radio, "The First Baseball Game." He also is the star of his own one-man play, "Outer Mission, Middle Class - The Comic Diary of an Immigrant's Son." Corporate clients include Hewlett Packard, IBM, Intel, Nations Bank, Philips Magnavox, Chevron, and Blue Cross. Dan is armed with a Bachelors Degree in Italian from UC Berkeley, a teaching credential from SF State, and a Masters Degree in special education, and the majority of Dan's material comes from being a suburban husband and father and dealing with the frustrations of everyday life. He lives in Foster City with his wife and son. www.danstpaul.com
Bridget Schwartz was a well-known San Francisco comic for many years (a Josies favorite), and then she took a hiatus to do something else for a while. That "something else" turned into "nothing" so she decided to come back and tell us all about middle age. She has no new insights, but went out with 70 different men on okay Cupid just to see if any of them noticed she was wearing two different colored socks. She likes cats and hamsters, but not at the same time (sad story) has spent time in jail in Munich, Germany and has invented a now famous yoga pose called "downward facing Whore." Come see her fall apart on stage.
Natasha Muse is like the C3P0 of San Francisco comedy: a bunch of small bears once mistook her for a golden god but in reality shes a bumbling robot (as well as a mom, a transsexual, and a firm agnostic). The SF Weekly once declared her a Comedian to Watch in 2014, and in 2016 they upgraded her to an Artist to Watch. Natasha features at the SF Punchline and Cobbs Comedy Club, and has worked with such comedy luminaries as Maria Bamford, Roseanne Barr, Janeane Garofalo, Wyatt Cenac, and God. Natashas comedy is so good, its not even funny.
Sid Singh is a rising comic who lives in San Francisco. He has appeared on BBC Red Button, The Sky Network, and SBC TV as well as BBC Radio, BBC Asia, Race Wars Podcast, and Fresh Air Scotland. He recently did his 4th show "Amazing Probably" at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where he sold out his 17-show run. He is a law student by day.
Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer whos the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy (now in its 24th year); Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women Comedians; The Color of Funny: A Multi-Cultural Comedy Show; and A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar: The Comedy of Religion. She moonlights as a bilingual (Spanish-English) publicist.
