Laura Cantrell
The Salvation Music Series (no.6), is very excited to present Singer/Songwriter, Laura Cantrell! Laura is a country music artist based in New York City. Born in Nashville, TN, she came to New York to attend Columbia College, and found that her abiding interest in country music helped her stay connected with her family roots. In her 16-year recording career, Cantrell has released six acclaimed albums: Not The Tremblin Kind (2000), When The Roses Bloom Again (2002), Humming By The Flowered Vine (2005), Kitty Wells Dresses (2011), her tribute to the pioneering Country artist Kitty Wells, No Way There From Here (2014), and this years Laura Cantrell at the BBC, a collection of live performances from the BBC from the years 2000-2005. Cantrell was a favorite of pioneering British disc jockey John Peel, who called her 2000 album Not The Tremblin Kind my favorite record of the last ten years, possibly my life. Cantrell recorded several Peel sessions for the BBC from 2000-2004 and appeared on the first Peel Day program on Radio One commemorating the first anniversary of Peels death; her Peel sessions performances form the bulk of the material presented on Laura Cantrell at the BBC.
