Chain and the Gang with Calvin Johnson and Katie and the Lichen
Dependably perverse and dependably sassy, Chain & the Gang is a moveable riot, a dance craze and pop machine rolled into one irreverently stylish package. On the group's third album In Cool Blood, frontman and ringleader Ian Svenonious (Nation of Ulysses, The Make-Up, Weird War, Vice Tv's Soft Focus) mixes the anti-authoritarian stance of DC Hardcore punk with summertime party vibes, cheeky banter and classic hooks. The result? Infectious fun. Co-headlining this debonair affair is lo-fi legend Calvin Johnson (K Records owner and founder, Beat Happening, Dub Narcotic Sound System), whose deep voice and idiosyncratic, lonesome songs will burrow down in your mind.
