How to Plant and Care for Succulents
Succulents make attractive and water-wise additions to the landscape and make stunning container plantings with their unique and wonderful shapes, colors and textures. They are easy to plant and care for and even tolerate periods of neglect while maintaining their beauty. Join UC Master Gardeners Sue Procter and Tina Heitzman for a 2 hour FREE class and learn how to plant and care for succulents from the ground up. This class provides an overview of this fascinating group of plants called succulents--including cactus, planting techniques, soil selection and amendments, propagation by cuttings and the ongoing care needs for watering and fertilizing. Participants will tour the succulent landscape of the Demo Garden and have the chance to plant a small container with succulents in class. Feel free to bring a special container of yours with a drain hole in which to make your succulent creation. Succulent plant material, potting soil, top dressing and some small terra cotta pots will be available along with some tips on planting design to help you create a miniature succulent garden.
The last 30 minutes of the class will be a SUCCULENT SWAP! Bring some cuttings, take some cuttings, and expand your succulent collection. Free!
