Native Arts Expo - presented by Global Harmony Series
Global Harmony series presents Native American Arts, food, festivities and a concert by blues band Twice as Good
In addition to the Native American Arts Exhibit this month, Gualala Arts is excited to have Native American artists come together to showcase their talents and educate the general public on the broad scope of Native American artistic expression, including the struggles they face as modern native peoples and professionals in this Native Art Expo.
Featuring traditional and modern storytelling and poetry, musical performances, basket weaving and a host of art and craft vendors, the expo will serve to expose artists with both traditional and contemporary indigenous perspectives.
There will be burger and Indian taco bar; soda and water available.
After the Expo, at 6 p.m., the Native American father/son blues duo Twice as Good will perform in the JAMI Amphitheater. Also known by their acronym 2XG, they are Paul & Richard Steward, the son & father, Native American, ultimate blues duo. Backed by their 2XG band, they perform a blend of blues and soul, R&B, rock & roll, with a hint of the Indian beat. This is the blues you can dance too, bringing joy out of sorrow; with a sweet screaming guitar and a soulful shout.
Saturday, October 22, 2016, from noon to 5 p.m., concert at 6 p.m.
Coleman Hall, JAMI Amphitheater, Redwood Grove
$5 for expo; $10 for concert; each is $5 more day of event; concert free for youth 17 & under
