Botanical Drawing: Seeds, Nuts, and Pods
Saturday, November 19 and Sunday, November 20
9:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.

Learn to create detailed botanical drawings of interesting seeds, nuts, and pods, exploring techniques for shading, texture, and perspective while creating a unique composition. Botanical artist Lisa Pompelli leads this two-day class, which is suitable for beginners and more advanced students.  


Class supply list is below.


Please bring the following items each day of class.

2H,  HB &  3H graphite drawing pencils, artist quality. Recommended brands: Staedtler Mars Lumograph, Faber-Castell or Derwent.  Avoid Turqoise pencils
1 Prismacolor Ebony Pencil
Optional  Staedtler Mars Technico Lead Holder along with 2H or H Lead refills
Staedtler Mars Lead Pointer (sharpener)

Magic Rub eraser
Kneaded eraser
Faber-Castell Perfection Eraser Pencil
Eraser shield  stainless steel (Alvin)
Blending tortillions  medium
Blending stump  medium
Small dusting brush or one bird flight feather (for removing eraser debris from drawing)
Pencil sharpener  preferably electric or battery operated
White artist tape  not masking tape
Rulers  6" or 12" clear ruler  with red grid lines [C-Thru #B50 or #B60] and 12" or 18" metal ruler with a cork bottom
X-Acto knife with #11 blade
Sandpaddle sharpener (sandpaper on a small paddle)

14 x 17 Strathmore Drawing pad medium (brown cover).  Do not bring Bristol, newsprint or papers with a smooth surface
Tracing paper  either a roll or pad


Small Desk Lamp w/adjustable arm and incandescent lightbulb.  Please do not bring type with clamps as the base.  (The desk lamp is necessary for seeing your plant and work area.)

Optional:  masonite sketch board with 2 clips, or rigid board
