Medicine for Queers
We are so excited to invite you to join us for Medicine for Queers!
In this daylong adventure, you will get to learn all about working with plants for healing- how to grow them, make your own medicine, and care for your nervous system and spirit. It will be a fun filled, hands on day in the company of magikal plants and wonderful queer community! Below is the line up for this fantastic day:
12:30-1pm Grounding and introductions
1-2pm Tour of the Gardens with Timber of Foxhole Farms 7 herbs were especially useful in establishing the gardens at Foxhole Farm: yarrow, clary sage, chamomile, white sage, valerian, borage and calendula. We will spend our time together with them in the field and talk about how these wonderful allies can be grown and used in our Mediterranean climate. Each of these plants are not only beautiful in the garden setting, they are useful in supporting wellness in general and queer health and healing in particular.
2-3pm Herbs for the Nervous System and Stress Response with Taya Mohler LM CMP We will talk about and meet a number of nervous system plant allies that grow at Foxhill Farms. We'll explore the medicinal, beneficial, and beautifully nourishing ways that these herbs aid in the nervous systems physical and emotional responses to stress and anxiety.
3-4pm Bitters & Spice with Elokin Orton-Cheung of Shooting Star Botanicals In this workshop we will dive into hands-on work making medicine for Fall health. We will weave in magikal practices for creating folk remedies to build your own herbal medicine chest. You will learn to make both an alcohol and vinegar-based herbal extraction, creating medicinal formulas with local plants to stay healthy this coming season!
4-5pm Self-Healing and Limpia Herbs with Batul True Heart In this workshop you will get to know 4 limpia plants currently growing on Foxhole Farm and how to work with them daily for spiritual healing and cleansing. You will connect with the spirit medicine of these plants through burning them, learning traditional ways of preparing them for baƱos (baths), and making a limpia liniment (topical spray) for clearing and shifting your own energies as needed.
