Twin Cities Chekhov Festival: Three Sisters (An Asian American Perspective)
This unique event includes a reading of an excerpt of THREE SISTERS by a talented all Asian American cast, followed by a talk-back discussing the validity of having other cultures perform Chekhov plays. Is this a uniquely white experience? Are the themes highlighted or diminished by having an all Asian American cast? Can Chekhov sustain mixed culture casting the way that Shakespeare has been able to sustain it? These are just a few of the questions that we'll delve into as we explore the resonance of the Russian master's work with an all Asian American perspective.
