2012 Wine & Beer Tasting, TOP CHEF Competition with Taste of Telluride
One to One Mentoring - San Miguel Mentoring Program announces our third annual WINE AND BEER Tasting & Top Chef Competition featuring the NEW "Taste of Telluride" on Friday, August 10th from 5pm-9pm at the Peaks Resort in Mountain Village, Colorado. This event is made possible by generous title sponsor, Alpine Bank!
Guests will have the opportunity to sample wine from a variety of purveyors including: Pasternak Distributors, Bottleworks, Hemel Family Wines, and Mary's famous SANGRIA!
Local breweries will be serving up samples of their beer. Oskar Blues Brewery will sample Dales Pale Ale, Mama's Little Yella Pills, and Old Chub, Smuggler Joe's will be sampling his Belgian style Tripel, called "Debauchery," Blossomwood Cidery of Cederedge, CO will be sampling their ciders made from locally grown pears, cherries, and English Cider apples, and a sarsaparilla mead, made from honey. Durango Brewing Company pouring Blueberry Wheat will be pouring Durango Dark and Ouray Brewing Company will be sampling three handcrafted local varieties of their locally made beer!
Peach Street Distillers will be pouring cucumber-gin lemonade with fresh mint and a Colorado Manhattan with their bourbon.
Arrive with an appetite! The Taste of Telluride at Top Chef has expanded to include many restaurants, caterers, farmers, and hotel menu items! Appetizers will be served up from the kitchens of: Bread and Roses Catering, G&T Natural Foods, the little bar at lumière, Southwest Lamb, Telluride Bistro, Tomboy Tavern, Floradora, Rev Restaurant (farm to table at the Hotel Madeline), Flavor, Flourish Catering, Conference Center Catering, Telluride Catering Creations, James Ranch Artisan Cheese, and others, as well as hot passed hors-devours from the Peaks kitchen.
To round out the evening, Tomboy Coffee Roasters will be sampling up some of their brews, and for those with a sweet tooth desserts on hand as well from Sweet Rhi's and Fat Kit Ice Cream Company as well special treats from The Sweet Life!
Between tasting and sipping, watch a heated showdown between local chefs, as they go head-to-head against 2011 TOP CHEF defending champion, Stephen Roth of TelSki. The new contestants are: Telluride born-and-raised chef-owner Roscoe Kane of the Floradora, longtime local Eric Eckert representing his new restaurant Flavor, and Sergio Gonzolez from the ever popular Telluride Bistro!
Judges seats will be auctioned off via e-bay (stay tuned for details), as well as one Judge Seat to be live-auctioned the evening of the event. The evening's festivities will also feature a silent auction featuring goods and services from generous donors and supporters.
For those traveling from out of town or anyone wishing to make a "mini vacation" out the event, the Peaks Resort and Spa, as a sponsor of the event, has generously offered special room rates of $159 including Resort Fee and Valet Parking.
All of the proceeds from the event benefit One to One San Miguel Mentoring Program, the only mentoring program in San Miguel County. One to One has been changing lives of kids since 1994! Young people come to us each with their own unique needs. For example: financial hardship, death in the family, academic struggles, at-risk behavior, emotional challenges, college and career planning, and more. Through careful screening and thoughtful matching, we work with community volunteers to effectively mentor local youth who benefit from having a consistent and caring adult in their lives. We offer programs, activities, enrichment opportunities, and scholarships which enhance the lives of kids in our community.
