From Jax to Hollywood
Come find out how Disney Feature Film Director George Scribner went from doodling on his school work at Bolles to becoming a Disney Legend, with credits to some of the top-selling movies of all time to his name.
Scribner is one of the rare few that has directed a multimillion dollar feature film and is a Disney legend with a list of credits that includes The Lion King (story, original director), Oliver & Co. (director) and more.
The best part? He got his start right here in Jacksonville after his high school teacher recognized that all the doodling he was doing in his classes was a sign of talent.
He eventually went to work for Disney, and has since enjoyed a 20-plus year career in the world of entertainment.
Come talk to George, and ask about:
+ Working your way up from doodling on your school work to Directing a Feature Film + Developing a story with legends like Joe Ranft, Roger Allers, Glen Keane, Kevin Lima + Working with Jeffrey Katzenberg, one of the most powerful people in Hollywood + Being the Original Director of The Lion King (ups, downs, and pressures of directing) + Roy E. Disney + Story and animation for Television v Film + Being in the world of the geek-cool Imagineers (like NASA for Disney) + Navigating the waters of film and entertainment at the top level for decades + Of course, you pick your favorite, just for the fun of it, total geek out questions!
George is grateful to the people of Jacksonville that inspired him to follow his dreams.
We hope to see you at this fun night in a fun place, with members of the film, acting, art and animation, and just general geek-out-over-all-things film community.
See you there!
