Guerrilla Filmmaking with Anthony Artis
Dont let a lack of time, money, or experience get in the way of making a documentary. Guerrilla filmmaker Anthony Artis has developed Down & Dirty DV, a filmmaking method dedicated to empowering DV filmmakers at all levels to create professional-quality productions with limited budgets. Through a series of books, DVDs, and online tutorials, Artis demonstrates that it doesnt take money to make films; it takes resources and the willingness to get down and dirty. Using techniques from Artis new book Shut Up & Shoot (2007, Focal Press), this seminar will teach you how to make your project better, faster, and cheaper by thinking creatively and working efficiently with the resources available to you.
About Anthony Artis: Anthony Artis is a 15-year veteran of the film and TV industry whose features and shows have been screened at the Tribeca Film Festival, the IFP Feature Market, Slamdance, and on MTV. He has worked professionally in positions as diverse as producer, gaffer, cinematographer, special-fx make up, sound mixer and location manager.
Through the years he has organized numerous student film festivals and trained hundreds of aspiring guerrilla filmmakers for major institutions including New York University, New York City's famed LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts and Baltimore County Public Schools. Anthony is presently the manager of the Film and TV Production Center at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts where he coordinates the technical training and production equipment for all Film and TV students.
