The 6th (or so) Annual Cafe con Comedy: Tales of Restaurant Work
A production of Kung Pao Kosher Comedy Presents, The 6th (or so) Annual Cafe con Comedy is a night of stand up comedy, this time featuring tales of restaurant work from 4 of San Francisco's very funny comedians: Carla Clayy, Nick Leonard, Bob McIntyre (pictured), and Lisa Geduldig. At the Dolores Park Cafe in San Francisco's Mission District.
Comedians' Bios:
CARLA CLAYY is a native San Franciscan who has spent the last several years making people laugh all over the country. She won the Marshall's Women in Comedy Competition in 2001 and was awarded a guest spot at its Marin County show, sharing the stage with Paula Poundstone, Joy Behar, and Rene Hicks. Carla is a regular at The Punchline, Cobb's, and comedy clubs in such hotspots as Modesto and Chico and has shared the stage with Robin Williams. She is one of the funniest comics in the Bay Area. Tonight, Carla will share her tales of working at the Marine World's restaurant, "African Hut."
NICK LEONARD started his tour of duty in the food service (industry) at age 15 in his mother's catering business in Minneapolis and continued across the country in most every culinary genre there is. He was working as a baker at Josie's Cabaret and Juice Joint when owner, Ron Lanza, recruited him into comedy, which sidetracked his search for the perfect scone.
BOB MCINTYRE started his long, 30+ year career as a waiter at age 13 with a three year stint at the Colonial Manor Fire Hall's Thursday night BINGO (in NJ), serving sandwiches and beverages while breathing in the second hand smoke of 150 crazy bingo players. Further gigs included a chain restaurant named after a day of the week (in NJ), a chain restaurant named after a cut of meat (in NJ), and a 24 hour diner whose name conjures a vision of a dog pissing on a fire hydrant (in SF). He has also worked at The Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City (a brief, 3 month stint) and was working at All You Knead at Haight and Ashbury on the day Jerry Garcia died, and all hell broke loose. He has never slept with a customer.
LISA GEDULDIG still has waitressing nightmares from the one year she spent waiting tables and slinging pizzas at two collegetown restaurants in Ithaca, New York during and following her 2-year college career at Cornell 30 years ago.
Doors and food at 7:15pm. Show at 8pm. www.DoloresParkCafe.com
