FIRST FRIDAY @ GALERIA WEST Music Series Concert with LOS DUQUES QUINTET
Thousands of area music lovers have enjoyed the popular FIRST FRIDAY @ GALERIA WEST Music Series concerts, presented by TEATRO Si at the intimate Galeria West Art Gallery, located at 111 Quimby Street in downtown Westfield, NJ. This once a month live concert event continues to bring to you a unique opportunity to enjoy a diversity of music genres as performed by a select series of international artists. The popular monthly concert event continues on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 7:00pm with an evening of the passion of classic Bolero music with the Los Duques Quintet in concert. The Los Duques Quintet brings to their listening audience a special performance of the romance of the classic bolero music genre and more. The quintet consists of Carlos Freire, classic guitarist and vocalist and formerly of The Trio Internacional. Marco Conrado, classic guitarist and vocalist and an avid aficionado of Ecuadorian music, especially compositions by Leonardo Favio. Mary Duarte, a former lead vocalist and guitarist of the original Trio Los Dukes, an acclaimed international group that performed in many countries over the years. Mary gained the following of many loyal listeners and still performs her numerous and popular recordings in the United States. Wilson Baez, guitarist, accordionist and pianist was for many years a member of the popular Romanceros Group in Ecuador. Wilson has also been an in demand music performance artist, appearing with numerous well known musicians and singers. Louis Cardenas, a classic guitarist and requinto player has been a member of the Trio Pasional for the last 15 years. He has performed at many theaters and universities in the United States, including Carnegie Hall and Cami Hall in NYC and the Teatro Nacional de Costa Rica. Trio Pasional has 2 CDs recordings of tradicional South American mestizo music. The Los Duques Quintet members are thrilled to bring their talents for the first time to a First Friday @ Galeria West concert performance and hope that patrons will enjoy the passion and romance of the classic bolero. We invite you to join us often during the year to celebrate the arts in a unique setting. We recommend that you consider enjoying a fine meal before or after the concert at one of the fine eateries in quaint downtown Westfield and the surrounding area. Most are located within a short walk from the gallery. Event proceeds benefit theatrical programming efforts at TEATRO Si, a 501(c) 3 New Jersey not for profit corporation.
