REBUILDING ROCKABILLY RIOT
The ReBuilding Exchange will transform into a 1950s-era rock n' roll bonanza on September 22nd for the ReBuilding Rockabilly Riot.
The jiving and wailing starts at 7pm with Chicago's only oldies DJ, the Coffin Banger, spinning surf, punk, soul, funk and blues tunes on vinyl. Of course it wouldn't be a proper sock hop without libations and vittles from the city's finest independent vendors. Riot attendees enjoy complimentary craft beer from Half Acre Beer Company and Three Floyds Brewing and can purchase sweets from Enoch's Doughnuts, savory pies from Pleasant House Bakery, pulled-pork sandwiches from Co-Op Sauce and other finger-lickin' foods from neighborhood eateries. Chicago's own rockabilly sweethearts, Pillow Talk, take the stage at 8pm to play a two-hour set during the live auction. One of the hippest items up for bid? A custom-built record shelf. Stay for an encore from the Coffin Banger, who will return to the turntables from 10-11pm.
Suggested Dress: Pin-up and pompadour hairstyles and retro threads encouraged.
