ED REED and the BRIAN COOKE TRIO at Bird's Nest Jazz
ED REED's bittersweet journey through jazz is remarkable. From deep roots in childhood, learning to sing chord changes from Charles Mingus (whose sister lived in his neighborhood) detours through prison, and a chance meeting with reed man Peck Allmond at a jazz camp, which has launched Ed on his current wild ride, recording and playing venues such as Yoshi's on the West Coast and clubs such as the Jazz Standard in New York.
