This is How the World Ends
2000, Dir. Gregg Araki With Michael J. Anderson, Lucas Babin, and Molly Brenner 44 min, digital projection
The pilot episode of a never-realized television show, This is How the World Ends was described by Araki as "Twin Peek for MTV."
Including dancing midget rock fans transforming into gun-wielding robbers, things that are but aren't, and the exploits of Zombie, a narcoleptic who keeps waking up in bizarre situations, This is How the World Ends stands as Araki's project that was never fully realized. Instead, this pilot stands as a fragment of what could have been a miniseries like no other.
