The Wheatland Chorale: "Emmanuel" Concert
Escape from the ordinary with a performance by the Wheatland Chorale. Known throughout the region for its shimmering sound, with artistic director, Eric R. Riley, this ensemble has reached new heights of artistry. The 46 singers of the Wheatland Chorale create a huge variety of color and texture, from thundering fortissimos to whisper quiet pianissimos; from the clear, lean voice-leading of Renaissance polyphony to the thick, tight harmonies of modern choral textures.
Our "Emmanuel" concert series for Winter, 2016 features three settings of the text "O Nata Lux" by Morten Lauridsen, Rene Clausen and Andrew Steffen, and three carol settings by British composer Philip Stopford. The program also features two settings of "Hodie Christus Natus Est" by Javier Busto and by the Renaissance composer Palestrina. William Mathias has an unusual "carol sequence" named "Ave Rex." And we also feature music by John Rutter, Healey Willan and Craig Courtney.
This concert will be presented at three different venues in Lancaster, York and Wyomissing. Visit our website at www.wheatlandchorale.org for direct ticket links to the location of your choice!
