Plein Air Watercolor Series
Thursdays, November 3- 17, December 1-15
9 a.m.- Noon
Artist Robert Sherrill leads a six-part course in plein air watercolor landscape painting. Paintings will be broken down to very simple components, including shrubs, paths, clouds, and flowers to form a more complete painting. Techniques in general color, basic shading, and basic perspective are explored. Sessions will be held outdoors in the gardens, where the scenery of The Huntington offers endless variety and inspiration.
No class on Thursday, November 24, due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
A supply list is below. Please bring to each day of class.
Watercolors paint: (Windsor Newton or Holbein are excellent)
Ultramarine Blue
Cerulean Blue
Cadmium Red Medium
Magenta
Cadmium Yellow Pale
Lemon Yellow
Optional: Any other colors are fine
Paper:
Watercolor paper, sheets or a Block. (Arches 140lb, cold press) around 9x12"
Watercolor palette, any you like. Holbein is good.
Brushes:
Sable or imitation sable brushes: 1 inch flat, #8round, #3 round
Additional:
small water bucket
Water to clean brushes
paper towels
trash bag
Any Field easel, French easel..
